Neomal Silva is an expert in stress management and a teacher of Vedic Meditation. He has worked as a management & project consultant throughout Europe and Australia with clients like Nokia and Accenture. He has taught, and conducted research, at Oxford University. He teaches a 20-minute technique that provides significantly more rest than sleep, and dramatically lowers anxiety levels.

  3. Download Zoom if it is not already installed on your computer. You do not need a zoom account to access the show, you just need the app.
  4. Follow the Zoom link which can be accessed by clicking the ‘Go to online event page’ button on your Eventbrite confirmation and reminder emails.
  5. You will need to log in to your Eventbrite account in order to access the Zoom link. The Zoom link will become live once Doors Open.

The Problem With Positive Thinking And What To Do Instead

How often have you had a bad day and been told to think positively?

Often this piece of unwelcome advice only leads to more anxiety when these ‘positive thoughts’ aren’t deeply believed, confirmed, or backed up by your own experience.

Why? Because positive thinking operates at the surface level of conscious thinking and does nothing to contend with the subconscious mind where limiting beliefs actually live.

So what can we do instead?

1. SAY THIS:

We’ve been honored to host Chris Helder and personally live by his creed of Useful Belief in place of vague positivity.

2. Focus on progress not perfection

This simple mindset shift is proven to improve mood, encourage learning, and fosters independence and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Making and admitting to mistakes is a necessary part of learning, of growing, and of being human.

3. Take responsibility and be accountable for your actions

Instead of using the emotional band-aid of positive thinking look at the deeper root of your frustration and action steps to properly heal.

Think about it this way, if you’re responsible for your negative feelings, you also hold the solution to resolving them.

Mornings. They can be a struggle for anyone, especially us working in the professional world. A bad start to your morning can derail your day and change your mood entirely. How, in this busy and fast paced world, can we begin our working days in the best possible way? Read below for some tips on how to start your mornings off for success!

 

1. Eat Breakfast

This seems simple but taking time to eat breakfast can make a world of difference. Wake up that ten minutes earlier, sit in your kitchen and cook yourself up a storm! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and so often it is skipped so we can rush off and get to work. Use this time as you eat to sit, take a break and ease into your morning, all the whilst eating a yummy and nourishing meal to give you an energy burst!

 

2. Plan Your Day

Organize what’s ahead for the day and prioritize. Building a to do list and ordering it by importance will help establish a feeling of control over your day and you’ll be kicking your daily goals with no problems at all!

 

3. Organize Your Desk

Once you’ve arrived at the office, take a moment to clear and tidy your desk. Clutter and mess will only take away from your productivity and having a workspace that’s organized exactly how you want it will only boost your efficiency through the day.

 

4. Remove Distractions

This is probably the hardest thing to do for any of us living in the digital age. Create a system that will help you alleviate your distractions, this could be turning phone notifications off, setting a timer on your tasks and pre planning your breaks. This will not only boost your productivity, but also give you time to ‘switch off’ from all the distractions of the digital world.

 

5. Check in With Your Colleagues

Workmates, they make the long working day worth it! Take some time out of your morning to chat to your co-workers, see how THEY are, see what’s going on in THEIR life. Though it may seem small, these chats can brighten not only your morning, but also the morning of your fellow worker!

 

The morning is one of the hardest parts of the workday, so take at least one of these tips and apply it to your day, and just wait to see what a positive difference it will make for you!
